2012 Challenges: July through December

Here are the challenges for the remainder of 2012, for those of you who wish to think ahead!

July: Fixed-Length Ficlets. Theme is a quote (from Sam Keen): "Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability." The author will choose a number from 101 to 400 to use as the length of the story.

August: Non-Fiction. no theme or prompts.

September: Theme: The number "75" in honor of the anniversary of The Hobbit. The number will be used in the stories. Prompt undecided.

October: Theme: Autumn Prompt undecided.

November: Theme: "A River Runs Through It". River names will be the prompts.

December: Yule Fic Exchange

June Challenge: The Longest Day

The June Challenge will have the theme "The Longest Day". Stories should explore the idea of "the longest day", whether literally or metaphorically. Your prompt for the challenge will be a link to music that hopefully will inspire you.

The June challenge stories will be due Thursday, June 14th and will be revealed on Saturday, June 16th. Please tag your story "longest day". Please remember to use the header template on the community profile page, and to put the name of your story and your name in the subject line (e.g. "Frodo's Amazing Adventure by Mary Sue").

Week Without Thranduil 1/?

Third or Fourth age, Legolas, King for a Week.... this really did not go/turn out to be quite the lesson Thranduil had planned for his son; Legolas did not learn precisely what his ada had intended for him to learn, and he was not the only one getting schooled (humor or squish or drama, depending on what the author imagines) (cascadewaters)

Warning: AU, what-if? Humor/Angst, Drama, family & friendship.
Summary: Thranduil figured that, after the war, it was time for Legolas to take on some responsibilities and assume his position as king for a week until his return from Imladris. Little did Thranduil know what a mess his son could create... evil grin...

May Story Challenge: Bunny Hutch

Here are the links to the May 2012 Bunny Hutch Challenge stories! For this challenge each author was assigned one of the many "plot bunnies" submitted by our members.

A Quiet Talk - by Larner Gimli and Frodo have a quiet moment to learn more about one another.
We Shall Stand by Alma Heart It was not for his strength that the Witch King feared him. Cirion remembers his father.
A Son To Be Proud Of by Linaewen Boromir contemplates the relationship between his father and his brother as he prepares to leave upon his quest.

Artist's Notes: This will be 16" X 16" when completed. It will be used as a pillow top for a throw pillow. Unfortunately, my sewing machine malfunctioned before I could finish making the pillow back, so I will have to finish that part later, by hand.
